Carrie Annand has more than 20 years of experience in energy policy and organizational leadership, with an extensive network of contacts in the corporate world and the public sector in Washington, DC.
Carrie serves as Executive Director of Biomass Power Association, a group she has worked with in various capacities for nearly 15 years. The organization represents U.S. biomass power producers who use locally derived, low-value wood and agricultural waste as fuel. Through her work with BPA, Carrie has a long history with renewable energy tax policy and the Renewable Fuel Standard, as well as carbon capture, biochar and forestry issues. She also started National Bioenergy Day in 2013, an annual day of recognition for the benefits of biomass power.
Carrie also serves as Executive Director for National Energy Resources Organization (NERO), a networking organization for private and public sector professionals working on energy issues. NERO holds regular events attended by hundreds of guests in Washington, DC. Under Carrie’s leadership, the organization’s revenues and participation have grown significantly.
Carrie specializes in professional, behind-the-scenes organizational management. She excels at working with board members, both individually and as a group, to set and accomplish goals. From membership recruitment to financial management, staff leadership and policy development, Carrie is an asset to ensure that everything runs as smoothly as possible, and the client is set up for success.
Edelman Public Relations first hired Carrie to work on the team serving the Government of Morocco. She has also worked for the House Energy and Commerce Committee and the British Embassy.
Carrie, a graduate of Duke University, lives in Washington, DC, with her husband and daughter.
